Vaping is a term used to describe “smoking” from an electronic cigarette, called an e-cigarette. An e-cigarette is a device that heats up a nicotine liquid, a.k.a. juice, to a point where it vaporizes. Vapor is inhaled through the e-cigarette, and exhaled in a cloud of water-based “smoke”. The vapor is mostly odorless to those around you, and disappears immediately. However, for that short moment that you draw on the e-cigarette, the vapor simulates smoking from a traditional cigarette. You receive the satisfaction of a real throat hit. It even allows you to blow rings. Vaping truly is the closest thing to smoking a real cigarette.

The electronic cigarette is a reusable product. Cartridges can be filled over and over again. Batteries and atomizers last many uses. Obviously this is not the case with tobacco cigarettes. Let’s have a look at the difference in garbage produced between using 300 tobacco cigarettes and using 1 bottle of E-Liquid (approx. equivalent to 300 tobacco cigarettes by puff count)

Anatomy of an Electronic Cigarette

A traditional cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals. Of the 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes, 60 are known to cause cancer.

E-cigarette vapor is comprised of propylene glycol, water, glycerin, flavoring, and nicotine (optional).

Combustion occurs when the flame from the lighter, burns the tip of the cigarette. Combustion is responsible for producing carbon monoxide, arsenic, and formaldehyde, just to name a few. It is the products of combustion that cause the second hand smoke that we are all very familiar with.

The electronic cigarette uses vaporization. Vaporization is the process in which at a temperature lower than boiling, a liquid is turned into a gas or a vapor. As this process does not achieve the 1000 degrees needed to burn, it is also not capable of creating second hand smoke.

Cost savings
Another pleasant benefit of making the switch is the money you will save. A typical pack of traditional cigarettes will set you back about $6, the e-cig alternative cartridge will cost you $1, 20 cents if you decide to make your own e-liquid (juice). Personally I have already made over $400 on top my initial investment of $70 in just 3 months.
